http://www.rappersiknow.com/media/ilwil/Beat%20Thieves%202.zip

allow me to get on my bobby brown/left eye shit. this damn project took fittylemn years to drop. fittylemn. i remember ilyas gave me a test mix to give feedback on and i was walking around the city listening to it...without a jacket on!

"i get it! that means it was a long time ago! because its february, and its been cold enough for a jacket since september! haha!"-the foreign co-worker from family guy

im happy its finally here, and i know its been a hell of a lot to get it from point a to b, so you guys go download that!

n*ggas slept HARD

#1 complaint: "yo this shit is boring why is it so laid back?"

this shit knocks yo...i didnt realize how much i listen to this until i picked the cd up and realized it came out in 2005. i bought it the day it dropped and i didnt even know it was dropping, i just went to fat beats because the designeriknow fwmj told me he was going to kevs in store and i said id roll with him. its roughly 2 years old and ive never stopped "casually throwing it on" so that must mean this is one of my favorite albums right? wow...this is like an intervention "von...we wanted to talk to you. weve noticed you listen to this album a lot. von...its one of your favorite albums youre not just casually playing it. its been 2 years von"

not that this is some guilty pleasure shit at ALL, i just never get to talk about it because when i tried when it dropped folks were like "its too laid back sleepytime blah blah" this shit is heat. if "say sumthin" is laid back to you, you must listen to "bombs over Baghdad" all day. the majority of the album knocks like a muhfucka and on some producer shit for him to make a whole album with basically the same (sampled) instruments is ill to me. thats like having an electronic band. the whole album is drums and strings.

moral of the story is...if you can listen to fantastic vol 2 then you cant say "i do what i do" is too laid back. sometimes i think im losing my mind because im hearing heat and other people dont hear the heat???? YOU DONT HEAR THE HEAT???? sheesh...

i hadnt made a beat in about 2 weeks until...

i heard this

which was used by black milk to make this (all you impatient folks wait for the damn beat to start at 0:11:

i must have played this instrumental like 20 times last night. i can try to explain...something about sampling is just so crazy to me...i always imagine in my mind the original artist being chopped up in the studio in real time in my mind. like...i imagine F****r in the booth and that second of time being looped and rearranged by god...i know im crazy but thats why its so trippy to listen. yea every time i hear a beat or make one i imagine im rearranging/looping/chopping that moment in time. i mean imagine him in the studio over and over "darling youve got....darling youve got...im yours too...your every wish is..." the engineer hitting the same button over and over...stuck in a loop of time. trippy aint it? no, i dont smoke weed.

canada

was dope. i wish i had a passport though.

sigh times 5

i was on the train for a very very very very very very very very long time. going wasnt bad because the HOURS went by fast but coming back was pretty bad. customs is a trip with all the questions on the train. next time im taking a plane damnit. when i get that passport (im going in the morning if its open on saturday...if not then monday. i tried to go already but i need a witness since i have no license. damn do i have ANYTHING?)

they probably dont even check this but just in case shout to everyone that held us down in canada. with all due respect to everyone that has given us a place to stay in the states while on tour/in town, i can safely say the good folks of toronto got me spoiled! claudine, cecilia, romeo, maria, everybody. yall made us feel like we all hang out all the time and we were only there for less than 48 hours. the actual show went well, i enjoyed it more then usual because i was playing dj too so id run back and forth between rapping and djing, but my djing was just dropping the beat out strategically. haha...in a perfect world id be able to really dj the whole set, but i do like rapping to the people as well so....eh thats not gonna work.

so next up is galapagos next week in brooklyn. check out the tanya morgan myspace page for info on that.

and were performing at the BHHF! google it! google google google!

GRAND VONYE!

i started "grand vonye" back in 2004...early 2004 at that. then i...oh the name. like grand marnier but vonier looks like "von-yea-r" and vonye looks like "von-yay!" and thats how we say "grand mon-yay" anyway...maybe thats another rap pronounciation massacre like "may-back" and "chris-staal" LOOKWHATEVERTHECASETHESHITISCALLEDGRANDVONYE.

and i dont care what you think about that name! im sorry, i just have a complex now that people are listening...like, i think i have to do what i think they want now. maybe i spend too much time online looking at criticisms but i know people nitpick and come across like eddie in MJ's "remember the time" video...sitting there waiting to be entertained and if they dont like it you're fed to the lions. FUCK and THAT. 2 times. thats a whole nother rant that i wont start.

anyway grand vonye is a...mixtape :-(

i dont like mixtapes. i know the lessondary has nuff mixtapes between them but im just not into mixtapes anymore. i love the clipse but i dont even listen to the "we got it 4 cheap"s like that. i mess with mixtapes that are basically "street albums" like spec boogies' "brassknucleraphustle" and little brothers...all the mixtapes they do (haha) because its mostly original songs (meaning not rapping over an instrumental).

but grand vonye is something that i left to collect dust back in 04 and donwill would ask about it every once in a while. that was the only meaning it had...one person asking about it (haha) i dont know why im finishing it, because i hate mixtapes! actually i do know why...because in the back of my mind i miss the experience of recording nobody's "what album?"

that was a week to myself recording shit for no reason. not for a chess move. just recording shit. call me too much of a romantic but i just like the feeling. doing songs so so and so can hear it or so and so can put it on this and get it to that person etc. is...im kinda over it already. no political shit i just wanna do songs and have em come out dope. theres hardly anywhere to buy cds from anyway! the record stores are closed down! get a job already! leave me alone! bitch im broke! (c) cody chestnut....im convinced theres no money to be made.

if you havent already noticed im slowly losing my mind. im on that good Mariah. if i was somebody this would be on a gossip blog as soon as i hit "publish"

but yea, im going to finish grand vonye (jack benson makes an appearance btw) by next week hopefully, then go back to workin on "nobody's perfect" and "the double entendre" (it aint really a double album i was joking lol)
