i have a question for you...do you feel like there is too much music out right now?
im looking at my itunes right now...the g unit mixtape is dope. "free at last" has some good joints on it. that fat ray & black milk has some joints on it. kidz in the hall put out a dope mixtape just now. i think the gnarls barkley new lp is good. i still want to give "we got it for cheap 3" another chance. i just got my hands on "the college kicked out" (im sorry danny, i owe you money. if theres anything i want real copies of its your albums. your albums make me want to run and get back on my solo shit asap (no dis to TM of course haha)). pete rock???? erykahs album??!?!?!
thats a lot of music i like/think i like/want to digest. not enough time to play all that shit. i still havent digested stuff from earlier this year/last year.
so my question to you is what are you listening to and is it all overwhelming for you too?

YES. LOTS OF MUSIC!!!!! But thats a good thing, I think. Currently listening to: Pete Rock, Erykah, Cadence Weapon, Gnarls ( :O, on the lo-lo of course!), Beat Thieves 2 (HOLLA)...but still mixing in the old school joints, as well. AND OBVIOUSLY, feenin' for yalls joints to drop!

You guys have hit most of the recent highlights (loving that new Erykah!). Don't forget Devin the Dude "Smoke Sessions Vol. 1". That Mike Love "Nigerian Gangster" is probably the best Jay-Z remix album since "Angster" (although the whole thing is kinda tired...props for being among the first). There's also Young Dro's "I Am Legend" (as you know). Chaundon's "Carnage" ain't bad.
Also, some good rock stuff out. Black Keys "Attack & Release"...Born Ruffians "Red, Yellow & Blue"...Liferz "Blood on the Wall"
And these are just the albums! There are always new singles and old funk & soul shit that I'm hearing for the first time, too.
Basically, there's just way too much stuff out there. So here's what I do. Every month, I put together a "best songs of the month mix" (not really mixed...I'm no DJ). Then, I put it on my blog: http://www.hydrantsippin.blogspot.com/
Nobody reads the thing, but it serves as a good reminder of what life was about for me in any given month...kind of like a monthly journal...but with music.

I'm so behind with music right now! I've got my hands on the new pete rock and i've been listening to a bunch of randomness that was suggested to me from last.fm friends.
Yeah, a lotta shit droppin', but 92 % of the stuff is garbage, & honestly, I wasn't even feelin the Pete Rock joint, had a few hot ones on it, but wasn't consistent throughout...like, so far, in 2008, the only album that's been like really dope, was the EMC joint, and that shit ain't even dropped yet!...(& yeah, the TIMELINE joint was hot too)...
still havent completely listened to the new pete rock & erykah badu
and the cool has been sitting on my desk for a while now lol

^^ not gonnaa lie... ive been pretty reluctant to cop that joint b/c of the things ive heard. same with F.O.O.D. Pea's gotta good ear tho... as long as its available for CD... ill def look into it later... i mean i cant call myself a Danny! fan if i dont got the first too... still rockin to the instrumentals tho. everytime i hear it, it inspires me to just do something perfectly!

theres cds ive bought that i havent gotten around to listen to. i just listened to Time:Line last night, and I played through BT2 on my ipod. is odd couple out or did it leak? april is gonna be crazy, the roots, kidz in the hall, che grand, i want Flight of the Conchords to come out too. and then theres shit youre just hoping or waiting without dates to come out.

i couldnt begin to tell you all of the movies (real and pr0n) I have on my computer that I havent watched, all of the music I havent heard, all of the books on my shelf I havent read, netflix dvds dont go watched for 2 months some times
one of the only things Lupe said that ever really stuck with me was that it's all distractions from our real life problems and what's going on in the world.
so yeah im a music/movie/book collector more than I take the time to get into all of it.
